I just watched the movie American Wedding, which prompted me to go back and watch American Pie 2. It's pretty sad that I have seen these two movies but I haven't seen the first movie in the series, American Pie. I have fallen in love with the other two though. Though quite irreverent, both movies are just plain riots. The characters in these films are hilarious, and in each movie there are a few scenes that are incredibly funny. I will focus for purposes of this review on American Wedding.
American Wedding is the last part of the American Pie trilogy, and has Jim (Jason Biggs) and Michelle (the charming Alyson Hannigan) planning their wedding, with the help of their parents and the ever-amusing Stifler (Seann William Scott). All of the characters are hilarious in their own way, especially Stifler and Jim's dad (the perfectly cast Eugene Levy). What makes this film, in my opinion, better than its predecessor, is that it doesn't try to have 10 different subplots; it has one main plot and just follows along with that. Two scenes especially stick out: one taking place at a gay bar, with a dance off between Stifler and an effeminate big man named Bear, and a bachelor party that Stifler organizes, which coincides with Jim's formal dinner with Michelle's parents. What also makes the movie, though, is the beautiful January Jones, who plays Michelle's sister, Cadence. Her presence brightens up the screen and provides some hilarious moments between Stifler and Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas). Overall, this movie is very, very funny, and if you aren't easily offended by bad language (because there is plenty of it) I would recommend it.

Scott's Rating:
American Wedding: 3.5 stars
